Lift Off Lenoir!
We are excited about this wonderful program called, Lift off Lenoir! that our teachers and students are able to participate in. The partnership between LCPS and Morehead Planetarium and Science Center brings North Carolina’s first portable digital planetarium and the PLANETS Program to our K-3 teachers and students.

The acronym, “PLANETS” stands for, “Portable Learning for All of North Carolina’s Elementary Teachers and Students.” This science education outreach program provided a full day of training for our teachers and lunch on December 10. Elysa Corin, Science Education Specialist, conducted our training for us. This high-quality professional development program supports our teachers with materials such as lesson plans, classroom materials, books, and various web resources. In addition, each of the elementary schools will host the planetarium for a full day during this spring for the “free” in-school field trip.

This enriched science curriculum with hands-on tools allows teachers to facilitate engaging learning activities for students thereby making learning much more meaningful and fun!
Finally, it’s important to note that this program supports us in meeting our district goal of attaining high academic achievement for our students to become globally competitive.
